Before we met, I do not think I ever woke happy. I slept. I dreamt. I rose. But waking to you – you in your button down and work pants, hair glistening, breath all mint and lips all sweet – as you fell back into bed simply to put your arms around me, took me from my dreams to a reverie. I thought we both lived in it – tell me you thought so too – that we shared a fantasy where maybe, finally, the two of us, who had been searching, hoping, recovering, and mending our broken hearts, had found each other.
